Getting Started

Tap 📍 SET LOCATION to enter a UK postcode or use your device's GPS. UK Crime Map will fetch all reported crimes within roughly a mile of that point.

Choosing a Date

Use the month picker in the header to select a time period. Crime data is published by the Home Office and typically lags 2–3 months behind the current date, so the picker defaults to two months ago.

If no data is returned, a tooltip will appear suggesting you try an earlier month.

Reading the Map

Each coloured dot represents a reported crime. Colours indicate the category — for example red for violent crime, blue for vehicle crime, purple for drugs. Tap any dot to see the category, street, date, and outcome.

Filtering & Incident Log

The category chips below the map show a breakdown by type. Tap a chip to filter the map and the incident list to just that category. Tap ALL to reset.

The incident log at the bottom lists up to 100 crimes. Tap any row to fly to that location on the map.

Other Controls

The ☀️ / 🌙 button toggles between light and dark mode. Your preference is saved between sessions.
